Planning and Zoning

The Saline County Planning & Zoning Board oversees the process that the county employs to legally control the use which may be made of property and the physical configuration of development upon the tracts of land located within its jurisdiction. All counties in Nebraska have been delegated the power to regulate the use of lands within their jurisdiction to promote public health, safety, and welfare since 1967. The primary focus of concern and control in county planning, zoning and land-use is the unincorporated areas of the county. The Planning & Zoning Board adopts a comprehensive development plan and can implement means such as capital improvement programs, subdivision regulations, building codes and zoning resolutions. The board shall also consult with and advise public officials and agencies, public utilities, civic organizations, educational institutions, and citizens relating to the promulgation of implemental programs. The Planning & Zoning Board shall also make preliminary reports on its findings and hold public hearings before submitting final reports. The Board may also grant conditional uses or special exceptions to property owners when generally and officially authorized to do so.

All questions should be directed to the Highway Department at 402-821-2737. All fees are responsibility of the PROPERTY OWNER.
