Marriage License Requirements for Saline County
- Nebraska marriage license fee is $25.00 and $9.00 for the certified copy for a total of
$34.00 - To obtain a marriage license, both applicants must appear together in person at the
County Clerk’s office. - Current government issued picture ID is required (such as a driver’s license or passport)
- Both parties must be at least 17 years of age to be married in the State of Nebraska.
If you are under 19:
- If either applicant is not of legal age (19), a notarized consent form must be signed by
the applicant’s parent, legal guardian or custodian, giving consent to the marriage of the
minor. The individual giving consent must present appropriate paperwork showing the
relationship to the minor. - Anyone under the age of 17 cannot marry in Nebraska.
Marriage Worksheet Information Needed
- Will need to know the birthplace of both the bride and groom.
- Will need to know both parents’ full names, mother’s maiden name, and birthplaces.
- The bride and groom must provide their Social Security numbers, if they have one.
Applicants who do not have a Social Security number must complete a form provided
by the Clerk asserting that they do not have a Social Security number. - If either applicant has a previous marriage, you will need to know the date that the
marriage ended (Date of divorce decree or date of death).
There is no waiting period or blood test required to be married in Nebraska.
Marriage licenses are valid for one (1) year from the date of issuance.
The applicants may apply for their marriage license in any Nebraska county and use it to be
married in any county in Nebraska.
You can print and complete the Marriage License worksheet prior to coming to the Clerk’s
Office. This will speed up the process in our office.
Saline County Clerk’s Office is located on the second floor of the Saline County Courthouse,
Wilber, Nebraska, Room 208.
If you are wanting to be married by the Saline County Judge, you must make an appointment.
The County Court phone number is 402.821.2131 or their office is located on the first floor.
You can obtain your marriage license on the same day as your appointment. We recommend
coming to our office 45 – 60 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time to get your
license.
